Man Killed In Pile-Up Near Desert Hot Springs

A blink of a second is all it takes to change someone’s life irrevocably. A simple trip to the store or the commute from work to home can end in tragedy. Such was the case for one man’s family last Sunday afternoon.

On June 14, 2015, near Desert Hot Springs, at approximately 3 p.m., the authorities were called to the scene of a car pile-up. The accident happened on the westbound Highway 62 North. 40 year-old Nikolas Samouhos, driving a Toyota Tacoma, was one of the three cars that were involved in the collision. His was trapped in the wreckage of his overturned car and had to be extricated form the vehicle by firefighters. Mr. Samouhos was transported to the hospital, but unfortunately did not survive the injuries he sustained in the crash – he was pronounced dead at 4:12p.m. at the Desert Regional Medical Center.

Fault has not yet been assigned to any of the other drivers, however if it is determined that the accident happened due to the negligence of another party, Mr. Samouhos’ family may be able to recover for the wrongful death of their loved one.
