Kraft Recalls 6.5 Million Boxes Of Macaroni and Cheese

May 18, 2016

Is Your Macaroni And Cheese Dangerous?

How many people do you suppose come home after a long day at work, spend a few minutes relaxing before starting on dinner, with their children milling around waiting for one of their favorites. How many boil a pan of water and empty into it a new box of Kraft’s original Macaroni and Cheese, expecting to get its advertised “gooey, creamy, delicious” flavor? How many are then likely to suffer injuries because of the bits of metal that came with the box that they neither expected nor saw?

On Tuesday, March 17th, Kraft Food Groups send out a massive voluntary recall of nearly a quarter million (242,000) cases of the original flavor of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, amounting to approximately 6.5 million boxes. The recall was due to the possibility of some of the boxes containing small pieces of metal. The recalled product was shipped to customers nationwide in the U.S. and several other countries.

The products being recalled are:

  • 7.25 ounce Box of Original Flavor
  • 3-pack of 7.25 ounce Box of Original Flavor
  • 4-pack shrink-wrap of 7.25 ounce Box of Original Flavor
  • 5-pack shrink-wrap of 7.25 ounce Box of Original Flavor

Any consumers in possession of one of those products should return the recalled boxes to the store where they purchased it for a refund or exchange (consumers may also contact Kraft itself for a refund). Fortunately as of now, there are no injuries as of yet though there are 8 confirmed incidents of consumers finding pieces of metal in the boxes.
